Bengal Tant is one of the most widely worn handloom textiles of Bengal — known for its lightness, breathability and everyday elegance.

Woven primarily in regions such as Nadia, Shantipur and Phulia, Bengal Tant has long been an essential part of daily life. Unlike heavier silk traditions, Tant sarees are designed for comfort in humid climates, making them ideal for regular wear. Tant is woven using fine cotton yarns on traditional handlooms. The weaving process involves setting up warp threads with precision and passing the weft to create lightweight fabrics with characteristic borders and subtle patterns.

The sarees are known for their crisp texture, airy feel and distinctive designs, often featuring bold borders (paar) and minimalistic motifs. Today, Bengal Tant continues to evolve with new colour palettes and design interpretations, while retaining its identity as a textile of everyday elegance. It seamlessly bridges traditional wear and modern minimal aesthetics.
