Part of our PARINOY Collection, a curation dedicated to wedding textiles. This Baluchari saree embodies the essence of celebration, heritage and timeless elegance. Parinoy, meaning wedding in Bengali, reflects moments of union, ritual and memory, and this saree is designed to be a part of that journey.

This is an antique, glamorous, and masterpiece handwoven Revival Baluchari saree of Bengal. The pallu reveals glimpses of Bengal’s layered past through figurative motifs of Raja (Nawab) and Rani (Begum), alongside English Sahib and Memsahib from the East India Company era, interwoven with peacocks, birds, and a central kalka (paisley) motif. Together, these elements create a narrative that is both historical and ornamental, capturing a unique cultural dialogue within the weave. The pallu unfolds as a richly layered composition, where narrative figurative panels, ceremonial motifs, and ornate paisley forms are arranged within a structured frame. At the heart lies a field of elongated kalka motifs interwoven with fine detailing, surrounded by borders of human figures, ritual scenes and symbolic elements arranged in rhythmic bands. This interplay creates a tapestry-like surface balancing storytelling with symmetry and visual depth. Each motif is meticulously handwoven, repeated with precision and framed within intricate borders, allowing the eye to travel across layers of detail. The contrast of tones enhances the dimensional quality of the weave, giving the pallu a striking yet refined presence.

Woven in pure mulberry silk, the saree carries a natural sheen and fluid drape perfectly suited for wedding occasions where elegance meets comfort. The silk enhances both the richness of the motifs and the clarity of the design. Originating in the 18th century from Baluchar in Murshidabad, the Baluchari tradition continues through master weavers in Bankura, where each saree is crafted on traditional looms. This piece stands as a revival of that legacy where heritage storytelling meets ornamental sophistication. Designed for the modern bride and the global wardrobe, this saree transitions seamlessly from traditional wedding drapes to contemporary styling with structured blouses, jackets, or layered silhouettes. A part of PARINOY is not just a saree, It is a woven heirloom, meant to be worn, remembered and passed on.
