Sooti by BONGONIKETAN is an authentic Bengal handwoven Tant saree crafted in pure cotton by traditional weaving families of Nadia, the most celebrated handloom cluster of West Bengal. Deeply rooted in the historic Tangail weaving tradition, often referred to globally as Bengal Tant, this saree reflects the refined simplicity, airy texture and effortless elegance that have defined Bengali cotton handlooms for generations. Every saree is woven entirely on traditional hand-operated looms without electricity, preserving the rhythm, texture and individuality of true artisan weaving.

Made from fine breathable cotton yarns, Sooti is exceptionally lightweight, soft against the skin and comfortable for long hours of wear, making it ideal for tropical climates and year-round styling. The rich black body contrasted with intricately woven borders creates a timeless visual language that balances heritage with modern minimalism. Unlike mass-produced fabrics, the texture of an authentic handwoven Tant saree carries subtle irregularities and softness that emerge only through skilled craftsmanship and slow weaving processes perfected over decades.

Historically admired across Bengal for its practicality and elegance, the Tangail or Tant saree became globally recognised for its feather-light drape and intricate borders that combine comfort with sophistication. At BONGONIKETAN, we work to preserve this heritage through ethically sourced artisan-made textiles that celebrate Bengal’s weaving legacy while adapting seamlessly into contemporary wardrobes. Whether styled traditionally with silver jewellery and bindis or paired with modern silhouettes for global fashion settings, Sooti transitions effortlessly from everyday elegance to festive occasions. Designed for lovers of authentic Indian handloom sarees across the world, Sooti is more than a cotton saree. From Kolkata and Ahmedabad to London, New York, Melbourne, Singapore and Dubai, this handwoven Tant saree carries the soul of Bengal wherever it travels.
